The church of Christ at Lake Street in Nicholasville KY is a spiritual family striving to do the will of God. We call ourselves Christians (Acts 11:26) and hold to the Bible as our one and only truth. Our mission is to stand for God’s truth (the gospel) and teach it to all people (Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 1:16, 1 Timothy 3:15).
The name “church of Christ” is a biblical description of Christians who work together for the cause of Christ (Romans 16:16). We are an independent assembly with no organization beyond our own number as described in Philippians 1:1. There are Christians across the world who work with local congregations of God’s people such as described in chapters 2 and 3 of Revelation. Christians are members of Christ’s body, which is also known as His church (Acts 2:47, Ephesians 5:23).
We are simply Christians seeking to obey the Word of God. We invite you to come and search the scriptures with us at any of our public worship services or Bible studies. If you are interested in a Bible study in your home, just call and leave a message at 812-599-6799.
The Lord's Supper - The memorial feast of unleavened bread and fruit of the vine, observed each Lord's day in commemoration of Christ's death & sacrifice for our sins (Acts 2:24, 20:7; 1 Cor. 11:23-26) Congregational Singing - Singing songs of praise & exhortation to encourage and educate in spiritual truths. (Eph. 5:19; Colossians 3:16).
Bible Preaching - Presenting simple and understandable studies from God's word to exhort, rebuke, and build faith (Acts 2:42 & 20:7).
Prayer - Prayers offered with humble appeals of request and thankfulness to God through Jesus Christ (Acts 2:42; 1 Thess. 5:17).
Voluntary Contribution - Our guests are not expected to give a contribution. Only the members are expected to give each Sunday the Lord's day to carry out the scriptural work of the church (1 Cor. 16:1-2; 2 Cor. 9:6-7).
